This is intended to furnish a uniform guideline for judging cars at Comet East meets. While every show does not have to offer
awards, the local organizers of major shows are encouraged to include them in the club activities. The purpose is to foster a
spirit of friendly competition and camaraderie. Awards will be presented when possible.
Selection of Judges:
1. The club president has the option to appoint the judges for each event or to delegate this authority to a club member.
2. Individuals selected should be fair and impartial in the performance of their duties as judges.
3. Judges may be non-members or members of Comet East
4 More than one person must be appointed to judge.
5. The decisions of the judges are final.
Awards Categories:
Each judged event must offer a minimum of five (5) awards:
1st Place (Best in Show), 2nd Place, 3rd Place, the Danny Peiffer "Eye Catcher" Award and the Mike Everett "Owners
Choice" Award.
Other optional awards are: Spectator's Choice, Farthest Driven, Best Paint, and Best Interior.
Other special category awards may be presented as determined by the president or vice president or their representative.
Rules:
1. Each car entered in the show will be eligible to be judged. The owner may withdraw his or her car from judging.
2. All cars will be judged by the criteria set forth in the rules.
3. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place cars will be judged based on the points awarded in each category with the highest number of
points winning. Points from 1 to 10 will be awarded in each category with 10 being the highest ranking. An exception to
numerical point assignment is acceptable when using non-member judges who have their own criteria.
Judges will inspect the condition of each car: 1) exterior: paint and bright-work 2) interior: upholstery and dash (the trunk is
considered part of the interior) 3) under-hood: engine and engine compartment.
It is the responsibility of the owner to have his or her car ready for inspection. The hood and trunk lid should be open. The
top should be up on convertibles.
In the case of a tie, the judges or designated substitutes will re-inspect the cars in question and make a final determination as
to the winner.
4. The winner of the Danny Peiffer "Eye Catcher" Award will be determined by a person or persons designated by the
president or the event organizer. The car chosen should not be one selected in the top three. The Danny Peiffer car is chosen
by subjective criteria. It is a car that may not have all the technical qualifications for a top three ranking. Never the less, it has
a special look that makes it stand out in a crowd. This car has the "WOW!" factor.
5. The Mike Everett " Owners Choice" Award is given to the car that receives the most votes of the owners who have cars in
the show. Each owner will receive one (1) ballot for each car he or she has entered in the show.
6. The Spectator's Choice award is given to the car that receives the most votes by people visiting the show field.. Ballots
must be distributed during the judging time with necessary instructions.
7. The appointed judges will determine the Best Paint and Best Interior awards.
8. The president or vice president or their representative will determine naming of judges and the criteria for all other special
awards.
