Hagerstown

Hagerstown show was on Sat. instead Sunday as in the past. I had no knowledge of this date change and there
(Ford show )was a flop to say the least. Saturday night at the Valley Mall there was a small cruise because of the
torrential rains during the day, but did clear out by 5:00 pm and there was 3 comets present among 40 to 50 cars.
Chester, Tom and I went to the cruise and had a good time. We Comet East members had dinner at the Outback
located along side of the Holiday Inn Express. We did have a show at the Mason -Dixon dragway today (Sunday) as
promised and only 5 Comets attended. Needless to say, it was a good time, Chester took 1st place , Tom took
Second and John from Pittsburgh took 3rd and also the Danny Pieffer award with his 74 Comet GT. I also got an
award , the Mike Everette award for ( peoples choice). The award for diamond in the rough went to a fellow from
Philly PA, name escapes me (65 Comet Cyclone) dark green. I told everyone I would be at the Dragway Aug.
22ndfor the Comet East Event and felt that we should have had more participation. The Club pushed this show all
year and made efforts to please cometeers. The drags were outstanding and also the weather. If it wasn’t for Tom
Church, whom gave me support, I would have thrown in the towel. Grateful for the others that had
shown up. Tony Mondy judged the cars, fine job ,and was there ,also supporting the club. Don’t know if Hagerstown
will happen again in the future. Tim Morley(Prez) will have to make that call......Pete C/E
